SGTU nursing team showcases Haryana’s cultural heritage on international stage
Teams from 15 countries participate in 7th commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Conference
Gurugram: Students of the School of Nursing, SGT University, Gurugram, brought pride to Haryana by presenting the state’s rich folk culture and traditions at the 7th Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Conference. Held at the Manekshaw Centre Auditorium in New Delhi, the international conference witnessed a vibrant presentation of Haryanvi folk dance by the students, captivating delegates from India and abroad.
Organised jointly by the Commonwealth Nurses and Midwives Federation (CNMF) and the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), the conference brought together more than 600 delegates from over 15 countries. The participants included nursing and midwifery experts, academicians, researchers, policymakers and senior health-sector officials. The theme of the conference, “Shaping the Future: Nurses and Midwives Navigating New Frontiers,” focused on the evolving landscape of nursing and midwifery, emerging challenges and future opportunities in the profession.
Representing the TNAI Haryana State Branch, the students showcased Haryana’s folk traditions, colourful attire and rich cultural heritage through a lively folk-dance performance. Presenting Haryana’s cultural identity on an international platform was a proud and memorable experience for the students. Their performance was appreciated by the delegates and distinguished guests attending the conference.
The students received the opportunity to participate in the cultural programme on behalf of the TNAI Haryana State Branch. The initiative was carried out under the leadership of Prof. Sunita Kumari, President, TNAI Haryana State Branch, and Prof. (Dr.) Sunil Kumar Dulad, Secretary, TNAI Haryana State Branch and Secretary & Dean, Nursing, SGT University.
The initiative received significant support from TNAI State Executive and faculty members, including Dr. Sarika Yadav, Dr. Pawan, Dr. Khushbu, Dr. Kul Pooja, Ms. Shakuntala Devi, Ms. Jyoti, Ms. Kavita, Ms. Sunita and Dr. Baba Vajrala.
The TNAI Haryana State Branch also expressed its gratitude to Mrs. Annie Kumar, National President, TNAI; Mrs. Evelyn P. Kannan, Secretary General, TNAI; and Dr. Jyoti Walia, Vice President, North Zone, for their support, encouragement and cooperation.
The participation marked a significant achievement for the School of Nursing, SGT University, providing students with an opportunity to showcase their talent on an international platform while also contributing to taking the cultural identity and heritage of Haryana to the global nursing community.
